Kiruna – city close skiing on mount Luossavaara

If you stay in Kiruna city and want to go skiing in the evenings, the local ski hill Luossavaara fits well. Perfect after a day filled with other activities. There are three lifts, four slopes and a park with jumps and rails. From the top of the hill you have a beautiful view over the mountain world. Here you find a cafe and on the weekends they serve a yummy waffle buffet and there is also a possibility to rent ski equipment.

A large number of cross-country skiers arrive every winter to ski in and around Kiruna. Kiruna offers early snow and well-prepared trails close to the city centre, for leisure and professional skiers alike. The ski trails are illuminated on dark nights and maintained using snow grooming machines for the best possible skiing.

Abisko – Nuolja off-piste

In Abisko you will find Sweden’s answer to French La Grave in a smaller format. Here you will find one lift and one marked slope. The rest is almost endless high-quality off-piste skiing with amazing views. A hot tip is to ski in Rihtunjiraravinen, which is like a natural fun park. You can also take the helicopter to mountaintops, such as the Abisko Alps. Skiing takes place in two zones – inside or outside the ski area. Inside the ski area, the ski patrol works daily with avalanche fighting. Choosing to go outside requires knowledge and avalanche equipment. At Nuolja off-piste, it’s only your imagination that sets the limits for new routes. You can also follow on a guided tour or take part in a basic avalanche education. Abisko National Park offers lovely cross-country skiing, and tour skiing.

Staying at STF Abisko Mountain Station is the closest to the slopes and they also have a sports shop, a small shop and conference facilities. You can also stay comfortably in some of the hotels or hostels in Abisko East, about 3 kilometers away.

Björkliden – a packed adventure for the whole family

In Björkliden you will find Sweden’s third highest fall height, that gives challenges and experiences for everyone from children, beginners to extreme skiers. There are 23 slopes from green to black and several off-piste stretches. The 8000-meter lift system takes you high up in the mountain world with perhaps Scandinavia’s most beautiful view. There are conference facilities, sports shop, bar, après ski, ski school and other winter activities such as dog sledding, snowmobiling or caving. Choose to stay in a cottage or hotel with four-star standard and eat in the restaurant Lapporten. If you want to get away from lifts there are many options for ski touring and heli-skiing. From Björkliden, you can take transportation up to Sweden’s highest mountain station – Låktatjåkka.

Riksgränsen – the most legendary ski resort in Sweden

On the border to Norway, you will find Sweden’s ski metropolis – Riksgränsen, which attracts skiers from all over the world. It is one of Sweden’s most abundant ski areas, providing unique conditions for fantastic skiing until midsummer. If you want to find extreme skiing, this is the area for you with challenges like “Rimfors” and “Uffes vägg” and beside the 29 slopes, there is a large area for off-piste. Stay in the ski room, hotel room or own apartment, relax in the SPA facilities after a day on the mountain and have a nice dinner at Lapplandia Restaurant. The evenings are packed with entertainment in the legendary bar Grönan. Or combine your conference with delightful activities that will give a sparkling creativity for developing company or organization.
