Explore Kiruna on two wheels – Bike City!
During summer, about 30 youths are working with “Bike City” where they have developed a free bike rental for all locals and visitors. The purpose is to explore how Kiruna can become a more cycling-friendly city while creating meetings between tourists and new and old locals by cycling.
The employed youngsters have been taught how to fix and repair old bikes donated by the locals and housing societies. The bikes have been redesigned into unique creations with individual names and are now loaned to anyone wishing to explore Kiruna on two wheels. The project is driven by Emma Jonsson and Samir Mujagic from Kirunabo -Social Innovation Lab, who are proud of all the cool bikes now rolling on the streets of Kiruna and hoping that Bike City will be a regular feature of Kiruna’s summer scene.
Borrow your bicycle for free at the clock in the town square. Monday-Friday 10.00-14.00.
Big thanks to all the locals who donated their bike to the project!
