Guovssahasat – Reindeer & Northern lights
A magic night with reindeer, silence and hopefully the Northern lights – a well-known phenomenon in Sámi mythology.
We will take you to Rávttas, a small Sámi village on the road to Norway. Far away from the city lights we’ll make an outing even further into the dark and wintry countryside. Your guide will drive the snowmobile while you relax in the sled watching the awesome sky, trying to spot the Aurora borealis. We’ll make several stops and enjoy the silence and the darkness. It has to be dark and relatively clear – and you also need some luck. Even without the Aurora it is a nature experience! During this tour you will hear many stories with regard to Sámi mythology and history. If you don’t see the Northern lights, you will always encounter some reindeer and be able to feed them with your own hands. At the end of the tour we’ll relax around the fire in a Sámi tepee (lavvu) and enjoy a warm meal and coffee or tea. If we haven’t seen the Northern lights, there’s still a chance before we return to Kiruna.
