Sami eco-tourism entrepreneur receives the Kiruna Lappland Award

This year’s Kiruna Lappland Award will be given to Nils Torbjörn Nutti, Nutti Sámi Siida in Jukkasjärvi. The award will be presented at tonight’s Kiruna Gala in the Kiruna City Hall.

The citation reads: “In the new, complex tourist industry, tourism entrepreneurs must always be at the leading edge of modern marketing and sustainable visions, based on a knowledge of nature and culture as well as providing a genuine service and being excellent hosts to the customers. Building networks and establishing cooperation within the tourism industry is also important. It is a great honour to present an award to an entrepreneur who has been successful in doing all of the aforementioned things, whilst simultaneously giving Sami culture a prominent position in international tourism.”

“It is a great honour to receive this award from our own destination city. There is no better way to illustrate our success in putting Kiruna Lappland and Sápmi on the world map”, says Nils Torbjörn Nutti.

“Through their pro-active approach, including the establishment of a sales office in Germany, Nutti Sámi Siida have shown that they are a mature export company and serious competitors in the international travel market”, explains Jörgen Svonni, MD of Kiruna Lappland.
