New crime drama set in Kiruna

After the success of SVT’s thriller Midnattssol, we are very excited that Kiruna is yet again the location for a new major TV drama. In TV4’s new thriller series Rebecka Martinsson, a “barren Norrbotten environment” is depicted in a murder drama set in the area around Kiruna.

Rebecka Martinsson is based on Kiruna-raised author Åsa Larsson’s popular crime novels about the prosecutor Rebecka Martinsson and police inspectors Anna-Maria Mella and Sven-Erik Stålnacke.

In the series, Rebecka Martinsson returns to her childhood home outside of Kiruna following a friend’s death, and becomes involved in the hunt for a murderer while she is at the same time forced to confront her own traumatic past.

The drama is directed by Fredrik Edfeldt, who is most known for the critically acclaimed movie The Girl from 2009, and the cast includes Ida Engvoll as Rebecka Martinsson, Eva Melander, Thomas Oredsson and Samuel Fröler.

The 8-part series Rebecka Martinsson will be shown during the spring 2017, with the first episode airing on TV4 on March 8th at 9.00 p.m.
