A visit at Esrange Space Center, the operational facility of SSC (Swedish Space Corporation), will explain this. Here you will see that our daily work has a firm connection to your reality and your daily life.

We can mention that TV signals broadcast from satellites are controlled from here, as well as experiments that promise better medicines and materials in the future. Important research on the Earth’s changing climate is also done here. Esrange Space Center is also the civil facility in the world that receives most data from Earth observing satellites. Data that might end up in your GPS or your atlas.

The facility lies 45 km from Kiruna, and during a visit here you will be told more about sounding rockets and high altitude balloons used for science, and about satellites used for communication and Earth observation.

We will learn more of this during our tour of the facility – in the middle of the daily action!

The tour departs from Kiruna Lapland Tourist Office, it is possible to get on and off the tour in Jukkasjärvi, notify when booking.
The tour is guided in Swedish and English.
Minimum 2 participants for the tour to start.
