The mountain resorts in Abisko, Björkliden, Katterjokk, Riksgränsen, Nikkaluokta and Kebnekaise have all opened full scale in the beginning or middle of February, and the sun has returned to Kiruna! At all these resorts you will find comfortable accommodation and nice food, so it’s of course fully possible to visit them also for non-skiers or non-climbers!

The winter season 2009/2010 will be the twentieth in order for ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi. A twenty-year journey from an Igloo of 60 square meters to the world's largest hotel of ice and snow at about 5500 square meters. The anniversary season will be highlighted throughout the winter, a celebration all guests are invited to participate in.

Kiruna - seven months of wintertime!

In Kiruna we have made the winter our favourite season. The arctic qualities are our strongest assets, such as the snow, the ice, the cold and the darkness. Many visitors are attracted by the northern lights and the deep blue polar nights, and also by the chance to experience a winter climate that doesn’t get that rough. As midwinter goes towards spring, it’s the beginning of the season that many of us are considering as Kiruna’s best. There is something really special about enjoying all the winter activities under a warming sun!
