A Sami experience with reindeer and sled
Experience reindeer in the wintry countryside and drive the sled on your own.
We will take you to Rávttas, a small Sami village 20 km west of Kiruna, close to the mountain range. You will feed and pat our tame reindeer that we keep in a corral during the wintertime. We will teach you about the traditional Sami lifestyle, now and in the former days. You will learn how to throw a lasso like a real reindeer herder. The highlight of the tour is the fun ride on a reindeer sled in the forest. Ráidu used to be the genuine and only way of transportation in Lapland in the wintertime, alongside skiing. After the ride we will enjoy lunch with smoked reindeer meat (suovas) and bread (gahkku) aound the open fire in a Sami tepee (lavvu). During this tour you will have the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the Sami people. This tour fits both grown-ups and children.
